Biography

I am a Singapore-based painter whose artistic practice is rooted in Semi-Abstract painting, exploring the intimate relationship between nature, femininity, and the human experience. Through layered colour, texture, gesture, and mixed media, I seek to transform the rhythms, forms, and emotions found in nature into visual expressions that are both personal and universally resonant.

Nature has always been an important source of inspiration in my work. I am particularly drawn to water and its ever-changing character. It can be calm yet powerful, transparent yet mysterious, still yet constantly moving. For me, water becomes more than a natural element; it is a metaphor for the emotional landscape of life-transformation, resilience, vulnerability, renewal, and the passage of time.

The feminine figure frequently appears within my work as an extension of this natural environment. Rather than portraying femininity solely as a physical form, I use the figure to explore inner strength, sensitivity, identity, emotional depth and transformation. By allowing the figure and nature to merge within an abstracted space, I hope to create paintings that invite viewers to discover their own emotions and interpretations.

My artistic journey began with formal training in Advanced Western Abstract Painting at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and Mixed Media Painting at LASALLE College of the Arts. I subsequently expanded my knowledge and experimentation through courses in watercolour and other painting techniques with Domestika, Artify, and the Milan Art Institute. These experiences encouraged me to explore different materials, techniques and approaches while gradually developing a visual language that feels uniquely my own.

Over the years, I have participated in solo and group exhibitions and art initiatives in Singapore and internationally. I was honoured to be part of the Singapore River Mural project created in collaboration with master artist Sun Yu-li and Artbeatz. I also participated in Pameran Poskad in 2024 and 2025 and presented my work internationally through ExpoMetro exhibitions in Barcelona in 2025, Hong Kong in 2025, and Madrid in 2026.

My work has received three Silver Awards, four Bronze Awards, and several Certificate Awards from organisations including the Asian Art Association Singapore, Teravarna, Boynes, and the Global Painting Conclave in 2024 and 2025. My artistic practice has also been featured in Visual Art Journal in its October 2024, February 2025, and June 2025 publications. In 2026, I was selected to exhibit my work at The San Francisco Art Fair organised by Teravarna.

Receiving the Noble Art Award for Outstanding Contribution to Artistic Heritage in August 2026 is a meaningful milestone in my artistic journey. To me, artistic heritage is not only about preserving what has been created in the past. It is also a living and evolving continuum, shaped by artists who reinterpret ideas, traditions, emotions, and experiences through their own time and perspective.

Through my practice, I hope to contribute to this continuing artistic dialogue by bringing together abstraction, nature, femininity and contemporary mixed-media exploration. I believe that art can preserve something deeply human while allowing it to evolve-carrying emotions and ideas across cultures, generations and changing times.

I continue to paint with curiosity and openness, allowing each work to become a journey of discovery. Ultimately, I hope my paintings encourage viewers to pause, reflect and reconnect with the natural world and with their own inner landscape.

My continuing artistic pursuit is to find stillness within movement, and to transform personal experience into a visual language that can speak across cultures and generations.

Artist Statement

My artistic practice is rooted in Semi-Abstract painting, where I explore the delicate connection between nature, emotion, and the feminine spirit. I am particularly drawn to water as a visual and conceptual element—its fluidity, movement, transparency, and ability to transform reflect the ever-changing nature of life and our inner emotional landscapes.

Through acrylic and mixed media, I build layers of colour, texture, and gestural marks to create works that balance abstraction with recognisable forms. My paintings often embrace tonal greens and soft, pastel hues, creating a sense of calm while allowing movement and spontaneity to emerge through the surface.

My practice is also deeply connected to the idea of artistic heritage - the importance of preserving the knowledge, traditions, techniques, and emotional language passed from one generation of artists to another. I believe contemporary artists have a responsibility not only to honour the foundations of art, but also to reinterpret them through their own experiences and perspectives. Through my work, I hope to contribute to this continuing artistic dialogue, allowing traditional influences to evolve into something personal and contemporary.

Inspired by the beauty and rhythms of nature, as well as the expressive qualities of artists such as Claude Monet and Jackson Pollock, I seek to create paintings that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with their own emotions.

For me, painting is not simply about representing what I see, but expressing what I feel—transforming moments, memories, and sensations into a visual language of colour, movement, and texture. In doing so, I hope my work can become part of the ongoing story of artistic heritage: respecting what has come before while contributing something meaningful to what comes next.
