Artist Statement
My work combines painting and sculpture. Having an intimate relationship to nature’s elements, I begin my abstract work on a clay bed (earth), add the element of “water”, plant the proverbial “seed “of innate creativity to form crevasses, cracks, and craters. This is transformed into flexible mirror image through a casting process to be stretched or shaped, allowing me the rich foundation for the dimensional painting to emerge.
The most meaningful aspect is the moment of transition in seeing the original clay carving beside its flexible counterpart, the coexistence of both negative and positive aspects of the same creation. Witnessing this mirrored relationship is like having a conversation between the past and the present, or between my inner and outer worlds. There’s something deeply private about this space, where I can reflect on my own light and shadow, and the coexistence of both my creative and personal life.
My passion has always been to experience the existence of the intimate connection that exists between creativity and spirituality. After years of meditation and studying variety of energy healing modalities I feel this energy in all my life experiences. My purpose is to translate this energy into an Artform.
I like connecting with the Earth and its Elements, the Cosmos, and the massive changes humanity is going through. I find the need and a commitment to help and support what is happening by using my creativity and the unique transformative and healing power of Art. Therefore, I feel that each piece I create has a life of its own and a message beyond the mind, a story that carries a personal as well as universal message for those ready to receive.
