Biography

I was surrounded by books, chorus music and my uncles’ paintings on the wall from the time of my birth. My father bought me crayons and drawing blocks from early age. Communicating with words and listening to stories from my father`s and my grandmother`s childhood was one of my favourite activities.

In youth I attended The Stavanger Art Gallery, and had chats on art with the manager, Roland Lengauer. He was, together with Arne Hoffmann, architect, and Kjell Phar Iversen, famous Post Impressionist, the establisher of “The Free Artists Gallery ”, in Stavanger, which I attended for seven years. Mostly working on my own, but getting feedback from the other students. Every half year all the students got curated by professional painters.

But long before this time, I attended Kristiansand Teachers`College, and specialized in arts and crafts. A very inspiring learning in modern ways of approaching a canvas.

Leading up to the wish to become a painter, was attending Bergen University, department Stavanger, and following some lectures in Iconography and Marketing analysis there, among other topics.

The connection between economy and culture was the main fascinating fact to study. Also art as a means of confirming your own existence and our own search for meanings in life.

I painted and gave courses in painting and drawing for many years , till I by coincidence was invited to participate at the Biennale of Liverpool in 2008.

The Italians then became interested in my arts and invited me for a representation on the web pages, Blueteam and Artantis. Then the Biennale of Florence followed, then a separate exhibition in Cremona followed. After these events, came invitations to participate in books, catalogues, and exhibitions abroad. Winning many art prizes was a part of these activities.

Till now I have participated at exhibitions in Rome, Florence, Venice, Milano, Wienna, Berlin, London, Tokio, New York and also Los Angeles. I have been invited to many more places, but it is a question of time to engage in exhibiting.

Naturally, I am both honoured and happy to realize that my pictures have been appreciated.

It has been great for me, also, being considered an artist shaping the art language of the future.

Since 2022 Art Tour International Magazine has invited me to receive the prize of the 60 best artists in the world.

All of these positive reactions to my pictures have moved me greatly, and I am really thankful to the persons and companies which saw me and my works.

Artist Statement

Artists and other groups who communicate with an audience in 2026 must work to protest against Internet manipulation of realities, false news and political agitation promoting extreme right wing ideas, for instance; and on white supremacy all over the globe.

The Internet kings and queens can easily lead the world to fascism, censorship of free speech and thought. Further, some of these people can build up big armies, start wars, steal natural resources from natives and much more…
However, an artist cannot be a political protester all the time. The beauty of life must be seen and expressed, the everyday interaction between and among humans must be described or interpreted.

In spite of this, the violations and the killings of fellow human beings must be revealed. The criminal political and economic leaders, the genocide responsible, must be, in short, put into jail.

But as already mentioned, I am mostly interested in showing the beauty of life, sometimes the pristine world. These sceneries inspire, encourage me , and perhaps the viewer of my works, to resist evilness, work for a healthy globe, with people living a decent life in every part of the world. My pictures should in short be an agitator for the good. As other peoples `activities should do.
How do we do this overwhelming work? Starting by considering our attitudes towards others, our way of thinking.

As a parent you should begin your parenthood by affecting your child`s way of thinking, your child`s emotional and intellectual way of reacting.
Human beings have to learn to be considerate of others, to take others' needs and rights into account. The Golden Rule; What you want others to do for you, you shall do to them.
